Birzo is built with open-source software. This page lists the open-source parts of Birzo’s apps, the licences they come under, and how to get their source code where a licence gives You that right. Those licences, not our Terms and Conditions, govern Your use of those parts.

The Birzo Windows App

FFmpeg

Records, cuts and saves the swing video from Your cameras. Licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. We build it from FFmpeg’s official source release, without modifying it, including only the parts Birzo’s camera feature uses. Source: ffmpeg.org, or ask us for the exact copy (below).

FFmpeg inside Electron

Electron, the framework the Windows app is built on, carries its own copy of FFmpeg to play video in the app window. Licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. Source: the Chromium project’s FFmpeg repository, or ask us for the exact copy (below).

Electron and Chromium

Electron is licensed under the MIT License, and Chromium, the browser engine inside it, under a BSD-style licence. The licences of Chromium and every component it includes are in the LICENSES.chromium.html file in the app’s install folder; Electron’s is in LICENSE.electron.txt beside it.

Other libraries

The app also includes more than two hundred smaller open-source libraries under permissive licences such as MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC and BSD. Their licence notices are included in the app’s files.

The Birzo Website and iPhone App

Both are built with open-source libraries under permissive licences such as MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC and BSD.

Getting the Source Code

For each component above licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, we will send You the complete corresponding source code of the version in Your copy of the app, for no more than it costs us to send it, for at least three years after we last distribute that version. Email info@birzo.ai.
